Designed as a home-away-from-home, our Whale Cottage guest houses have been designed to welcome you with friendly service,
offer you outstanding views, and to be in walking distance to the restaurants and major attractions in the area.
The three Whale Cottage guest houses are located in Camps Bay, in Cape Town; in Franschhoek, in the Cape Winelands;
and in Hermanus, the capital of whale watching in South Africa.
Decorated in a unique marine theme by the owner herself, utilising the characteristic and distinctive colour Nourse Blue,
the Whale Cottages feel cool and breezy in the hot summers.
Chris von Ulmenstein opened the first Whale Cottage in Hermanus in 1996. The success of the first venture led to the opening of
Whale Cottage Camps Bay in 1998, Whale Cottage Franschhoek in 2004 and Whale Cottage Plettenberg Bay in 2007.
In 2002 Whale Cottage Hermanus re-located to a magnificent seafacing property in Hermanus,
and in the same year Whale Cottage Camps Bay underwent an extensive renovation.
Sadly, due to the prolonged recession on the Garden Route, Whale Cottage Plettenberg Bay has closed down.
